Cancer Plans - provide benefits only if you are diagnosed with cancer (as defined by the terms of the policy). These policies generally pay a lump sum benefit upon diagnosis and expenses incurred in conjunction with the treatment. There are generally "caps" on the amount the insurer will pay per treatment. Many of these policies also provide amounts for travel expenses for treatment, hospitalization on a per diem basis, radiation and chemotherapy benefits. Plans are generally offered to Employees on a voluntary basis and designed to offset medical and non-medical expenses associated with cancer that are not covered by traditional medical coverage.
